Many of you know of or have used the resources at the library of the Centre d’Études et de Documentation Économiques, Juridiques et Sociales (CEDEJ) in Cairo, one of the premier research institutions in Egypt. Several days ago, library staff and patrons received the sudden news that it would be closing at the end of the year, reportedly due to budget constraints. As many of you know, this would constitute a real loss for social science research in Egypt.
